I’m Michael and I’ve been cleaning for Master Cleaners for about 10 years.
I’ve been cleaning offices & pubs in London over this period.
The cleaning is done out of hours and usually in the small hours after pubs close. It’s also easier to get around in the early hours using night buses with very little traffic build up.
One night after cleaning offices in Holborn I headed to Islington to clean a pub I have been cleaning for about 3 years.
This pub is in a side road off the beaten track-I entered as usual opening the door and switching off the alarm followed by turning the lights on.
I then went down to the cleaning cupboard and started to get ready for the clean.
- Lemon Gel
- Floor Polish
- Toilet Cleaner
- Brass Cleaner
- Glass cleaner
Everything needed for the clean was there although the brass cleaner was running low.
Two hours later I had completed the clean & took the trash out to the area designated. I then returned to the pub to put all the chemicals and equipment back into the cleaning cupboard.
As I turned round I felt someone grab the back of my neck
“Be quiet & don’t move”
Two guys were in the pub and as one walked me down to the cleaning cupboard the other started to empty the shelves of liquor behind the bar.
Being locked in the cleaning cupboard is an unusual experience and I remained there for about 1 hour before calling the police on my mobile
After that I never ever left a door unlocked and the premises unattended
